The popularity of data science as a field that is not only in high demand but also experiencing tremendous growth. With the number of data science jobs increasing by 30.1% in 2022 and the median salary for data scientists in India rising by 25.4% to INR 16.8 lakh per annum, this field is proving to be financially rewarding for its professionals as well. 

With a similarly surging demand in India, let us look at six companies that are currently hiring for data science roles here!

1. Colgate–Palmolive

Consumer products company Colgate–Palmolive is looking for full-time data science experts to join their information technology team.

Job Description:

  • Analyse and mine datasets to improve product development, marketing, and business strategies using advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods. 
  • Create custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets and use predictive modelling to optimise customer experiences and other business outcomes. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or a relevant field and five plus years of experience in data manipulation and statistical modelling, strong problem-solving and analytics, strong verbal and communication skills along with experience working in a multi-functional dynamic team environment.

2. Deutsche Bank

German financial services company Deutsche Bank is hiring data scientists (Assets) with experience in the banking domain to support their Assets and Liabilities team alongside leadership and marketing teams. 

Job Description: 

  • Develop and validate advanced algorithms and predictive models for customer lifecycle management in the banking industry, including asset domains such as SME and loan processing.
  • Perform statistical analysis, variable selection, and dimensionality reduction on data, build unique attributes and assess new data sources.

Minimum Qualifications: 

More than four years of experience in developing analytical solutions with Regular Expressions and ML, a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, CS, or more), proficiency in programming languages (Python, SAS), ability to learn and apply emerging NLP, ML, and DL techniques, attention to detail along with strong communication skills.

3. Google

Tech giant Google is looking for mid-senior level data scientists for gTech’s Product and Tools Operations team (gPTO). 

Job Description: 

  • Adopt and build data engineering procedures, such as data pipelining and feature engineering that can be applied to both research and production.
  • Use the appropriate mathematical techniques, such as frequentist statistics, bayesian statistics, and natural language processing (NLP) in order to analyse and create explanatory, predictive, and prescriptive models.

Minimum Qualification:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, together with five to eight years of experience in data science, data analysis, and/or a related sector. The ideal candidate will have experience communicating technical concepts and solutions to non-technical and executive audiences along with working with web technologies (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and HTTP).

4. Mastercard

Digital payment solutions provider Mastercard is recruiting mid-senior data scientists who can assist in data-driven decision making. 

Job Description:

  • Collaborate with the global optimisation solutions team to design, create, and manage complex reporting and data visualisation tools on large data sets and deliver insights.
  • Use ML to build solutions and produce actionable insights for product improvement and sales enablement. 

Minimum Qualification: 

Excellent academic background in Computer Science, statistics, or a related discipline or equivalent job experience working with open-source technologies in a product development capacity and as an ML resource. The candidate should be highly skilled in using Python/Spark, Hadoop platforms, SQL and all ML frameworks.

Global clothing brand Puma has open positions for data scientists in their AI and Analytics team to identify trends and apply data mining techniques, among others.

Job Description:

  • Comprehend a problem statement and use analytical procedures to drive growth. 
  • Work with other teams to prototype new ideas, collect data and requirements, scope out solutions, and create solution architecture.

Minimum Qualification:

A B.Tech and/or M.Tech in Computer Science, Signal Processing or relevant fields from a premier institution with one to two years of experience in SQL, R and Python, and Spark. Applicants should be able to discover efficient solutions to complex problems. Required skills include Azure, AWS, Databricks, and MLFlow.

Cybersecurity solutions system McAfee is in search of skilled data scientists to generate insight and deep dive analysis in product growth analytics.

Job Description:

  • Leverage product analytics, machine learning, and A/B testing to provide actionable insights to enhance customer experience and maximise business results.
  • Identify, isolate, share data concerns, and take ownership of the data quality for the analysis and reports generated.

Minimum Qualification:

The ideal candidate should have two to five years of industry experience in analytics and a strong background in SQL and Python and should be self-motivated, collaborative, and experienced in A/B testing design and analysis.
