One of the global leaders in modern application development, OutSystems, recently announced its new research and development centre in Bangalore, India. The commitment comes as OutSystems plans to further expand its footprint in India. With this centre, the company aims to address the rising adoption of modern application development platforms by simplifying the application development and maintenance process to drive innovation and elevate the customer experience.
The new centre adds further to the OutSystems’ global R&D centre capabilities currently located in Portugal, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Spain.
“IT modernisation, technical debt, digital business requirements, and a shortage of experienced developers are all challenges that organisations face around the world. We are not only helping organisations rapidly build new applications that are scalable, secure, and reliable but also delivering applications that are adaptable and able to be changed as quickly as the needs of the business. The APJ market is a high-growth market for us. Our expected growth has led us to allocate a significant portion of our investments to building a new R&D centre in India. The creation of this new development centre is a top priority as we believe it will help us expand our footprint in India as well as leverage the technical expertise in the region for global customers. This new R&D centre in India will be a crucial part of our strategic growth initiatives and will be essential to building impactful solutions for our customers around the globe,” said Patrick Jean, CTO, OutSystems.
OutSystems is a developer-oriented platform that aims to leverage Indian tech talent to improvise the platform and better address the challenges faced by customers. The new R&D centre will play a key role as a source of innovation.
Anand Yashwanth, Head of Engineering – India, OutSystems, said, “This is the first research base for OutSystems in India, as part of our efforts to enable efficient and rapid application development for business growth based on global and local needs in the swiftly growing digital era”.
The OutSystems technology can substantially accelerate the software development lifecycle, allowing businesses to quickly upgrade legacy systems or create new web or mobile applications with the features that today’s mobile customers expect. The R&D centre will work towards abstracting complexities, such as cloud adoption, from our customer’s development journey.
The company intends to increase its headcount in India to represent 15% of the global R&D team in the near term and is actively looking into recruiting professionals for roles supporting cloud, development, architecture, quality automation, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). The launch also provides opportunities for local talent to do cutting-edge work and contribute to an organisation whose primary focus is to make software development accessible to everyone in the organisation.
