Prabhu Raja, senior VP, Semiconductor Products Group, Applied Materials, announced an investment of Rs 340 crores towards the semiconductor plant in India as the next phase of investment. He was speaking virtually at the SemiconIndia conference 2022 held in Bengaluru.
Applied materials, a USD 17.2 billion American giant, is a global leader in providing equipment, services and software to the semiconductor industry. The company offers services to manufacture semiconductor (integrated circuit) chips for electronics and flat panel displays for computers, smartphones, televisions, and solar products.
In November 2021, Karnataka’s IT BT minister Aswath Narayan mentioned Rs 5,000 crore by Applied Materials, HCL Technologies, Rakon India and China. The proposed investment will help create more than 15,000 direct jobs in Karnataka.
