World’s leading software development platform GitHub has made ‘GitHub For Startups’ available in India and the global market. With relevant tools, aid and guidance, the initiative aims to support companies by enabling them to grow from an idea to a unicorn.
Eligible startups are expected to receive up to 20 free seats of GitHub Enterprise for a year. It would include regular office hours, a startup-friendly onboarding experience, and practice sharing from GitHub technical experts.
‘GitHub For Startups’ would allow developer collaboration and productivity with project boards that integrate directly into the workflow—helping break out individual tasks and track progress of the company. Trusted by Fortune 100 companies, the platform would also help startups meet compliance benchmarks and keep their code secure.
Speaking on the announcement, CEO Thomas Dohmke, GitHub, said, “No longer can any organization enter, compete, and grow in the modern, digitized economy without software, the power of developers, and the open source community. As the home for the world’s developers, it is our responsibility to provide entrepreneurs access to our complete developer platform, so anyone can rapidly and securely turn their aspirations into the next great startup of tomorrow.”
Further, GitHub’s complete DevOps toolkit would provide extensive automation and CI/CD that live right next to code. With the help of startup support organisations and partnerships with leading investors, accelerators, the programme would primarily help small companies grow.

In order to apply, startups are required to raise a funding up to Series A, be new to GitHub Enterprise, and not have previously received credits. If ineligible, companies are still allowed to sign up for a free trial.
