How Gameskraft Is Scripting A Success Story With Rummyculture And Gamezy

Share

Gameskraft is one of India’s fastest growing companies in the gaming space. After starting up with bootstrap funding in June 2017, this small startup is quickly growing at an exponential pace. Their first release, Rummyculture, saw 1 million users and app downloads over 18 months.

The company is still growing at an average of 20% month on month, but those in charge don’t want to stop there. The startup is gearing up for a new foray into the fantasy gaming sector. Capitalizing on the perpetual cricket fever in India, Gameskraft is all set to launch a fantasy league for cricket.

Known as Gamezy, the platform will allow players to create a team of their favourite players and engage in fantasy league gaming on a completely different level. Curious Dose reached out to Prithvi Singh, Founder and CTO, at Gameskraft, to know more.

Story behind Gameskraft

I have been quite passionate about gaming from my childhood days. This passion slowly started evolving into obsession as I grew up. I spent a lot of time playing video games during my college days. Although I never intended on becoming a professional gamer, I always wanted to be closely associated with the gaming world.

So once I reached a certain point in my career, I began brainstorming with my friends and eventually came up with the idea of Gameskraft. I initiated Gameskraft with a vision of developing games that cater specifically to Indians.

How did Gameskraft attain growth?

Whether it’s a start-up or a listed company, the first step of running a successful business is to define the target audience. We conducted months of research to understand our target audience group. Then we categorized them into different sections, i.e. pro gamers, casual gamers and beginners.

This process helped us to gain better insights and modify our gaming platforms accordingly. Secondly, the market research allowed us to know the ins and outs of India’s online gaming industry such as the current trends. All these factors have contributed to Gameskraft’s growth.

Digital gaming boom in India

India is going through a technological revolution, with a substantial rise in both smartphone ownership and internet-usage across the country. While this digital boom has caused serious disruptions in various industries, its impact on the gaming industry in India is colossal. As more

Indians from tier II and tier III cities become active smartphone users, gaming is poised to become one of the country’s most profitable industries. Other factors like rising disposable income and the changing attitude towards gaming are also propelling the growth of India’s digital gaming sector.

State of the online gaming market in India

The online gaming sector has undergone a tectonic shift in the last decade, with the Indian market witnessing robust growth over the recent years. According to a KPMG report, the domestic gaming industry is all set to cross the 1 billion mark by 2021. Another report titled ‘The Evolving Landscape of Sports Gaming in India’ claims that India’s online gaming industry will be worth 1 billion by 2023.

This growth will be mainly driven by the increasing demand for fantasy games in the country. It’s estimated that more than 100 million users from India will access fantasy gaming platforms by 2021.

Upcoming projects at Gameskraft

Earlier this year, we forayed into the fantasy gaming market with the launch of Gamezy – a fantasy gaming platform for the cricket enthusiasts of India. It’s a real money game wherein participants can create their own virtual team with real cricketers.

Users then win cash rewards based on the real-life performance of those chosen players. We had worked relentlessly for this project for almost a year, and it continues to remain our top priority for the upcoming months.

What is the market that Gameskraft aims to capitalize on?

At present, we are focussing only the Indian market. Our first game Rummyculture was targeted primarily towards the South Indian market, whereas Gamezy (Gameskraft’s latest offering) was developed keeping in mind an all-India outlook.

What are Gameskraft’s future plans?

Our short-term goal is to create a country-wide interest for Gamezy and make it the country’s favourite fantasy cricket game. Our long-term goal, however, is to establish Gameskraft as one of the leading gaming companies in India.

Is there funding on the horizon for Gameskraft?

So far, Gameskraft has been a bootstrapped company. However, we have received financial support from our family and friends. Although we are not presently in talks with investors, we are open to exploring funding opportunities in the future.
