Infy CEO Says Time For Businesses To Team Up With Govt, Civil Society, Healthcare Institutions Amid Crisis

CEO and MD of Infosys, Salil Parekh has said it’s essential for businesses to join hands with the governments, civil society and healthcare institutions in an effort to combat the spread of this deadly coronavirus.

He said the coronavirus pandemic is one of the toughest challenges that the world has been faced with. Salil Parekh emphasised on the importance of the current requirement of businesses and governments to collaborate together. Calling it one of the toughest challenges seen by humanity. “And, due to this crisis, it is imperative for businesses to unite with the governments, civil society, as well as healthcare institutions in order to support the communities we are living in.”

The company is planning to extend its resources and technological capabilities in order to help people who are most impacted by this deadly disease.

Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty added, “These are unprecedented times that require every section of the society to rise to the challenge.” The foundation also announced that it is committing Rs 100 crore to support efforts towards fighting COVID-19 in India and contributed half of this commitment (Rs 50 crore) to the PM CARES Fund.

According to the media, the foundation is already working with multiple state governments and NGOs to expand its reach across the country. The foundation stated that, if any state government, healthcare provider, or an NGO would like additional support in order to combat this deadly disease, please do reach out at foundation@infosys.com mentioning the specific requests. “We are happy to evaluate and consider supporting initiatives that align with our areas of focus,” the foundation added.
