The recently concluded MachineCon 2019 Singapore edition gathered Southeast Asia’s leading analytics leaders who shared their insights on developing a data-driven culture, monetizing data and strategies to build a robust technical infrastructure. MachineCon 2019 Singapore edition held on May 31 turned out to be a fantastic event with engaging presentations, in-depth panel discussion and invaluable networking opportunities to the delegates and awardees.
The 1-day invite-only conference featured interesting talks from monetizing data, to the importance of reskilling and the use of AI in healthcare. Vinut Shetty from Snowflake, the leading database-as-a-service provider presented an interesting demo to the delegates. For 2019, MachineCon Singapore edition succinctly captured the interests of the thriving data community in Singapore and presented key knowledge and insights to delegates that helped them develop a further understanding of driving a successful data and analytics strategy in their organisation.

Highlights from MachineCon 2019
The keynote was kicked off by Shailendra Kumar, VP & Chief Evangelist (Analytics & Leonardo) – APJ & GC at SAP who presented a talk on Making Money Out of Data followed by ISB’s Steven Burton, Executive Director, Centre for Executive Education who spoke about the importance of reskilling in the AI age. Up next, Sagar Babar CEO at Comsense Consulting chaired a panel on How Machine Learning & Predictive Analytics Is Contributing To Tangible Business Outcomes By Enhancing Customer Experience with Satchit Joglekar Sales Director - Southeast Asia at Snowflake, Surjit Swain Head of Analytics - ASEAN BU at Coca-Cola & Bireshwar Dasgupta Head, Analytics, Propositions & Digital Initiatives, Commercial Banking at Standard Chartered Bank who dwelt on the challenges existing in the domain, slew of well-executed use cases and tech solutions that are powering their businesses.
The second-half of the day saw four tracks by Anees Merchant, Senior Vice President – Analytics & AI at Course5 Intelligence, Ramasubramanian Sundararajan Head of AI Lab at Cartesian Consulting, Dyuti Lal CEO and Co-founder of Nikhil Analytics, Bangalore and Mohan Lakhamraju Founder and CEO at Great Learning. The sessions ranged from data literacy to customer-facing data science use cases.
The talks resonated with the gathering that represented top analytics leaders from insurance, banking, new-age internet companies and telecom sector who gave their own perspective on the impact of data-driven solutions and the unique challenge that still exist before fully realizing the value from data.

The conference ended on a high note by recognizing 40 game changers from Singapore’s data science and analytics community who have done groundbreaking work to deliver business outcomes by leveraging data analytics and AI. As part of Analytics100 awards, MachineCon 2019 recognized the region’s 40 influential senior leaders and outstanding analytics executives who have gone and beyond to solve organisational challenges with data and have made an impact within their organisation. We congratulate each winner on their achievement and leadership and pushing breakthroughs in analytics and data science and ultimately driving critical business outcomes.
