Many academicians from various institutions in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science have been working tirelessly to make groundbreaking innovations and make students ready in the field. These professors and academics have been enriching the analytics and data industry for a long time and contributing immensely to its progress.

At Cypher 2022, Analytics India Magazine called upon some of these brilliant academicians and awarded them with the Most Prominent Academician Award. Here is the list of the awardees.

Anuradha Sharma

Anuradha Sharma has more than two decades of experience in building and scaling teams in Data Science. Her work has spanned all around the analytics space from marketing analytics and research, financial analytics, FMCG to E-commerce analytics. She is currently the Provost for Business Programs at INSOFE.

She holds a Masters in Applied Statistics from Bowling Green University. She also leads the AI for Business and AI for Education Research groups at upGrad-INSOFE. She has previously worked as the Chief Analytics Officer at Marketics, Sr. Director–Customer Solutions at Data Sciences Group.

Binesh Nair

With an MS in Data Analytics from Dublin City University, Binesh Nair is an Assistant Professor at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. With over a decade of experience in data analytics, Nair has spanned the academic, research, and professional industries. 

He is also the Programme Chair for India’s only dual degree programme in analytics—MBA in Decision Sciences and Analytics (DSA). He is also a global speaker in the field of analytics and also delivers short courses on artificial intelligence at CETYS University in Mexico.

Dr. Devesh Bhatla

Associate Professor and Head of Business Analytics Programs at Chitkara University, Dr. Devesh Bhatla holds a PhD in Management from Monad University, MBA in Telecommunication Management & Marketing from Amity University, and B.Tech. with specialisation in Electronics and Communication from Kurukshetra University. 

With more than 12 years of experience in corporate and a skilled analytics trainer, Dr. Devesh Bhatla has filed 14 patents. He holds a record of 5000 plus trainees and prepares management students and working professionals and directs them towards innovation and continuous improvement. 

Dipyaman Sanyal

Dipyaman Sanyal is an educator and consultant who has been successfully traversing the world of academia and industry for nearly twenty years. Currently, Sanyal is the Head of Academics and Learning at Hero Vired.

Sanyal has a BA and MA in Economics from Jadavpur University, MS in Applied Economics from University of Texas in Dallas and a PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has won several awards like 40-under-40 in Data Science in 2019, Most Prominent Analytics and Data Science Academicians in India 2018, and Most Prominent Analytics Academicians in India in 2017. 

G R Chandrashekhar

G R Chandrashekhar has been an academic for nearly two decades and is currently the Dean of Business Analytics at Prestige University. He has done PGDM from IIM Bangalore and PhD from IIM Lucknow. 

He has been on the faculty of XLRI, IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, and IFMR GSB before joining Prestige University. He also launched the Analytics Program at IFMR GSB and is now following the same path at Prestige University. He has also been invited as a speaker at various conferences including Strata Data conference and TDWI.

Lakshmi Shankar Iyer

Head of Business Analytics at School of Business and Management of Christ University, Lakshmi Shankar Iyer is a Gold Medalist in Physics in UnderGraduation from Madurai Kamaraj University, PostGraduation in Management from University of Madras, and PhD in Management from Bharathiar University.

Lakshmi Shankar Iyer received the ‘Woman Achiever Award in Academics’ by LIC Housing Finance Ltd., in 2019. She has also been associated with Christ University for the last 12 years and has had a record of making her MBA students industry ready with 100% placements. 

Manish Gangwar

Manish Gangwar is an Associate Professor at Indian School of Business and Marketing Excellence Director at Institute of Data Science. He also served as Associate Dean Research and RCI management at Indian School of Business. 

Professor Gangwar holds a PhD in Management Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and an MS from the University of Kentucky. Gangwar’s research articles have been published in leading academic journals, book chapters, and popular media. He serves on editorial review boards of many reputed journals.

Satyam Mukherjee

An Associate Professor at School of Management and Entrepreneurship of Shiv Nadar University, Satyam Mukherjee’s focus and research interests lie at the interface of Network Science, Science of Team Science, Computational Social Science, and Sports Analytics. 

Mukherjee holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and an M.Sc from University of Pune. He also received the Forbes–Marshall award for Masters in Physics from University of Pune in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

At present, he is researching technology development and innovation in Open Source Software (OSS) communities in a data-driven and computational manner. 

Dr. Sourav Saha

Currently, Dean of Academics and Director of Data Science at Praxis Business School, Dr. Saha has been a Senior Data Science professional turned Academician with 2 decades of experience across functions like Technology (BI) Consulting, Data Science practice and R&D in the Advanced Analytics space. 

He has a PhD in Management Information Systems from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. One of the topics from his doctoral thesis got the best paper award at the International Conference on Advanced Collaborative Networks at Venice, Italy and and a Best Paper nomination for IT Innovation in assisted healthcare at the HICSS.

Dr. Srabashi Basu

Srabashi is the Anchor Faculty for multiple programmes under the data vertical at Great Learning. She is responsible for the quality of course content, mentor and evaluator training, quality of delivery, and Capstone Projects.

Dr. Srabashi Basu completed B.Sc in Statistics from Presidency College, Kolkata, and M.Sc from the University of Calcutta. Then she studied at The Pennsylvania State University with a full graduate assistantship. She completed her second M.A. and Ph.D. in Statistics from Penn State University. 

Dr. Suparna Dhar

Dr. Dhar is a professor and In-charge of NSHM Institute of Computing & Analytics at NSHM Knowledge Campus. She completed her PhD from the Department of Business Administration from Aligarh Muslim University with information systems as the specialisation and also holds a Masters in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute.

She has taught data analytics at IIM Calcutta, NIIT Imperia, and AI Labs. Her areas of focus and expertise include digital social networks, data science, machine learning and AI, blockchain, digital business, and cybersecurity. She won the MD’s Special Category Award at RS Software for pioneering work on cloud hosting.
