New Entrant In India’s Smart Home Market, China’s TCL Group Ups The Ante With Its Product Line

The Chinese multinational electronics company TCL, recently launched its IoT-enabled devices in India. Apart from IoT, the company is also trying to launch its AI-powered devices in the country. With the rise of IoT in the world, such initiatives will bring the technology to India and encourage its usage at large.

New IoT Devices Launched

The new launch of IoT-enabled devices by TCL includes devices like smart air conditioner (AC), refrigerator, washing machine and sound bar. Apart from these IoT-powered devices, TCL also announced AI-powered television. It introduced a UHD Android TV backed by AI.

TCS would be leveraging its competitive advantages in areas like Quantum Dot display material and technology, OLED printing technology, and IoT and AI in the home appliances division in order to make everyday life smart in India.

IoT Products Launched

Here are the four IoT-powered projects that TCL launched in this announcement:

1. Air Conditioner:

The Smart AC is 3-star inverter AC and it comes with 1 tonne, 1.5 tonne and 2 tonne cooling capacities. Under the TCL Elite series, it has launched a fixed-speed 2 star 1.5 tonne AC. All the newly launched ACs are equipped with smart airflow and AI-inverter algorithm. Other than this, the TCL 3 star ACs are able to deliver rapid cooling in 30 seconds. Both ACs have a lot operating noise of 22dB. It is also equipped with ultra-low frequency running and filter cleaning reminders.

The Chinese company has also confirmed that it’s planning to bring split and portable air conditioners in the country, the prices of which will start somewhere from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000. The new air conditioners will come with cheap service support starting at as low as Rs 250 for servicing the air conditioners.

2. Refrigerator:

The two refrigerators announced are TCL 520L and TCL 545L, one of which is a side-by-side and the other is a double door. They have features like no frost technology, AAT freshness technology, inner partition storage, smart swing airflow and has compressors and water dispensers. Their cooling technology has been greatly enhanced. They have fast freezing which cools food inside the refrigerator in two minutes.

3. Washing Machine:

The new IoT washing machines of TCL are G-series, K-series and B-series, both of which are front loading and the B-series comes with a top-loading. All the three of them are equipped with water sealing and non-pollution design. Other features include honeycomb crystal drums, BLDC inverter motors, and intelligent automatic detergent inputs. The K-series has a touch screen display. The B-series has a waterfall spray wash honeycomb crystal drum, an easily detachable and cleanable pulsator. It also has a 3-D storm wash, and a DDM motor. According to TCL, these smart washing machines are as smart as the smartphones today.

4. Audio Solutions:

TCL has smart TV sound solutions with bluetooth, SD card slot, USB, FM and remote control. A Tower & Soundbar; and wired as well as bluetooth wireless headphones. All the newly launched audio devices offer a clear and good audio experience to the user.

TCS Connection With India

India is one of the world’s fastest growing consumer electronics market in the world. TCS has its first manufacturing plant outside of China in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh in 2018. This means that the company can provide Indian-centric products at competitive prices as well as create over 8,000 jobs, fuelling up the economic development of Tirupati region. This announcement if new IoT devices of TCL in India reaffirms TCL’s strong focus and expansion plans in the Indian market.

Recently we also had TCL announcing its partnership with Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Delhi Capitals as a sponsor. Regarding the launch of AI-enabled TVs, TCL India Country Manager, Mr. Mike ChenChen, while addressing the media at the launch event mentioned India as a strategic market for TCL. He said that TCL has always made sure to study the changing demands of masses when it comes to offering high-end digital TVs at affordable prices. He said, “We hope our new range of TVs and smart home appliances will perfectly satiate the lifestyle needs of the new-age Indian consumer.” He also said that India is home to a growing number of tech-savvy and digital users that demand more from the products that they use.

Looking Forward

This launch of IoT and AI devices by TCL is going to introduce the Indian audiences with the power of IoT in these daily devices. This will entertain applications in the field to be greatly used and the research to be rapidly increased. The manufacturing plant set up in India also tells a lot about how impactful TCL can be in the Indian market.
