Bengaluru-based RV University (RVU) has signed an MoU with data analytics firm Mu Sigma to launch a four-year BSc (Hons) in decision sciences under School of Computer Science and Engineering. The programme is designed along the lines of the co-op concept popular in the US and Canadian universities: The students will spend 50 percent of the time in the university and the other half working as apprentices at Mu Sigma.
“We are proud to partner with Mu Sigma in offering this unique programme in decision sciences. This collaboration will further research and innovation. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has emphasised, among other things, apprenticeships, and learning-by-doing. The apprenticeship model will empower students with relevant work experience and essential soft skills, making them more employable. It will also provide students with a solid grounding and enable them to take on future leadership roles in the industry,“ RVU vice-chancellor Prof YSR Murthy said.
The RV University claimed it’s the first apprenticeship based UG programme in India. The programme provides the students an opportunity to work on existing problems of Fortune 500 companies. “I am delighted to announce our partnership with RV University’s School of Computing. RV University is a storied institution that has contributed scholars and professionals to India and the world for over eight decades,” said Dhiraj Rajaram, CEO and founder of Mu Sigma.
