This series will explain data science, AI and ML concepts in a fun and easy-to-understand way. The show also features interesting characters and novel ways of explaining these concepts. Anyone can watch it and understand the source material, making it a perfect fit for teaching anyone about data science concepts.

Produced by Analytics India Magazine and created by Hera Pheri Films, the Pretentious Geek aims to make data science concepts accessible to everyone in a funny way.

For our first episode, we picked up the topic of recommendation engines. Join Manya, her boss, and Nitin, our host, as they delve into the concepts of recommendation engines and how they work.

Recommendation engines are one of the most present types of AI across the Internet. Owing to their easy extensibility and user customization options, they are a mainstay of every online site and service.

However, even though we know about their existence, the way they work is not widely known. The rise of recommendation engines has also opened up the possibility of user profiling and other similar predatory practices.

Understanding how recommendation engines work can not only enable users to utilize them better for customized experiences, but also creates more awareness about their pitfalls.

If you want to know more and be entertained while doing so, go to Analytics India Magazine’s YouTube channel. The Pretentious Geek is a recurring weekly series with episodes releasing every Monday.
