At the VMware Explore 2022 held in Europe, the company announced the launch of VMware Tanzu cloud native app portfolio along with VMware Aria cloud management platform to deliver plug and play capabilities for cloud native application development, delivery, and management.
Why it matters? VMware said that through this expansion, businesses will be able to build and deliver on cloud systems without the need for expert and skilled developers in Kubernetes, which is cited as the leading challenge. “This will allow flexibility, scalability, and easier decision making for enterprises,” said Ajay Patel, senior vice president and general manager at Modern Apps & Management Business Group.
According to the State of Kubernetes report by VMware, more than 40 percent of respondent enterprises use hybrid cloud models while 52 percent are working on multiple cloud vendors. This shows the cumbersome navigation process on cloud in many organisations. With Tanzu for Kubernetes Operations, enterprises will be able to enable the right Kubernetes environment to build and manage applications and environments.
Besides VMWare Tanzu, other alternatives that offer similar services include TYASuit, ServiceNow, Jira and others.
What it means for enterprises
Amid the mass layoff happening in the startup ecosystem, and alongside the talent crunch in enterprises, the VMware Aria Hub complements the Tanzu portfolio for easier cloud native application and multi-cloud management, thereby cutting costs, increasing efficiency and performance, alongside building security. The introduction of cloud smart approach by VMWare will give organisations to select the right cloud platform and service based on the individual needs.
