AIMResearch has released a detailed report on ‘State Of Data Science In Domestic Indian Firms – 2021,’ throwing light on how organisations leverage their analytics investments to achieve tangible results.
Highlights of the report:
- Analytics adoption among the largest firms in India stands at 74.5 percent
- e-commerce and private sector banks saw the highest analytics adoption at 100 percent
- 43.4 percent of analytics functions of the top Indian firms are based out of Mumbai, followed by Delhi at 24.3%
- 32.3 percent of analytics functions in India work to support the sales and marketing teams
As per Coursera’s latest global skills report, India ranked 67th in data skills, with 38 percent proficiency. In Asia, India ranks 16th, ahead of Thailand and the Philippines, but below Singapore and Japan.
Raghav Gupta, managing director of India and APAC at Coursera, said the pace of skills transformation is slower than the pace of digital transformation in the country. “Learners must invest in both technical and soft skills to prepare for jobs of the future,” he added.

Gudi has over 25 years of experience and has served in leadership roles across client relationships, large scale delivery, analytics and management consulting. Before joining Tredence, he was the partner and India head at Infosys Consulting. Besides this, he has worked with companies like Mu Sigma, HPCL and Lupin Labs.
Larsen & Toubro Infotech appoints Jitendra Chakravarthy Putcha
Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) has appointed Jitendra Chakravarthy Putcha as EVP and global head of data, analytics and AI. Putcha will head the data, analytics and AI teams in India.
Prior to this, Putcha was the Hyderabad centre head at Cognizant. He has worked with companies like Wipro, DSQ Software etc. He is also a guest speaker at various forums on programme management, AI, data science, BigData and analytics.
Pernod Ricord appoints Ruchi Bubber
A global producer of wine and spirits, Pernod Ricord recently appointed Ruchi Bubber as head of analytics, sales and revenue growth. At Pernod Ricord, she is responsible for setting up and transforming the sales analytics practice for the company.
Bubber has diverse experience in financial services, AlcoBev, FMCG and media. Before joining Pernod Ricord, she was the director of analytics and reporting at American Express and general manager and head of analytics at The Coca-Cola Company. Besides this, she has worked with companies like SmartAnalyst and Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group).
Protiviti appoints Ronik Bahl
A global consulting firm Protiviti recently appointed Ronik Bahl as director of data analytics. Bahl has over 23 years of experience in information technology, spanning programme management, solution architecture, business process re-engineering, consulting and others.
Before joining Protiviti, Bahl was a senior manager at EY, leading the delivery of large Hyperion financial management engagements, robotic process automation (RPA) practises and more. He has worked with companies like Wipro, Genpact, Polaris Software Labs etc.
Cohesity appoints Aditya Kumar
Data management startup Cohesity recently appointed Aditya Kumar as the director of engineering. Before joining Cohesity, Kumar has served as an engineering manager at Linkedin. He has more than two decades of experience working with companies like Rocket Fuel, Microsoft, Ensim etc.
Revolut hires Paroma Chatterjee
Global financial super app Revolut appointed Paroma Chatterjee as CEO of the company. Chatterjee has over 18 years of experience across financial services, telecom and e-commerce.
