What To Expect At CES 2020: Lidar, Coral & Neon

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is held in Las Vegas every year, and from AI toothbrush to human-carrying drones, this show witness several interesting innovations of technology for instance. CES is a hub for categories like self-driving cars, cryptocurrency, digital health, 5G, smart wearables, entertainment, smart home, AI, drones, robotics, startups and much more.  

Last year, the show was focussed on AI, IoT, Robotics, AR & VR, 5G network services, autonomous cars, among others. Similar to last year, this year too the products will be focussed mainly on artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. 

Several major organisations like Google, Samsung, Nvidia, Intel, etc. are showcasing their products and talks about their latest tech innovations in this event. This year, the global stage of innovation, Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will be held from 7th January to 10th January.

Apple

According to sources, after a gap of almost 28 years, this year Apple is doing a rare official presence at CES 2020. Jane Horvath, senior director of the global privacy of Apple will be speaking on consumer privacy in the session “privacy is a human right” on Tuesday, 7th January at 1 pm. Furthermore, the company will also showcase its HomeKit which is a system for controlling devices in the home similar to Amazon Alexa.

Bosch

This year, Robert Bosch is presenting connected products for mobility and the home. Ahead of CES 2020, the German multinational engineering and tech company, Bosch unveiled a long-range lidar sensor for self-driving cars. This will be the first lidar with light detection and ranging system which is suitable for automotive use. This laser-based distance measurement technology is indispensable for driving functions at SAE Levels 3 to 5. The goal behind releasing this product is to reduce the price for the sophisticated technology and render it suitable for the mass market.  

Google 

Besides hitting the floor with smart home gadgets, tech giant Google will be showcasing some of the developer tools of AI. Ahead of CES 2020, the tech giant announced new additions to the Coral platform. The unveiled hardware products for Coral include Coral Accelerator Module, Coral Dev Board Mini and some new variations to the Coral System-on-Module. The developers at Google will be displaying these hardware products as well as showcasing demos like how the System-on-Module (SoM) can be used in a smart city, manufacturing sector, and healthcare applications during the event.

Samsung

This year, Samsung has been making some headlines with its “artificial human” known as Neon. Developed by the Samsung Technology collaborating with Advanced Research Labs, or STAR Labs. Neon is a software-based AI which will appear human to the users. The developers at Samsung will unveil this product properly at CES 2020. 

Sony and LG

Eminent electronics manufacturers like Sony and LG rolls out their best products every year in this event. This year, these two companies will be rolling out products like hi-tech televisions, speakers, among others.

Wrapping Up

CES has become the basis of innovation in the IoT and AI space. Thousands of people and hundreds of speakers will be gathering in these 4 days to witness some of the groundbreaking innovations and breakthroughs in the field of technology. Not just the gadgets are the traction at this year’s event, Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump will also be presenting a keynote speech at CES 2020.
