L&T Technology Services recently announced the opening of its Engineering Research & Development (ER&D) Centre in Toronto, Canada. This marks the company’s third global design centre in two quarters.

The ER&D Centre based in Toronto will primarily focus on developing digital solutions for the transportation sector, including global aerospace and railway engineering.

In a press release, the company stated that the area of specialisation would span across rail track advanced mobility solutions, defect detection, sensors, digital flyboard, and communications systems.

Moreover, the new centre will mainly cater to LTTS’ Canada-based clients by providing cutting-edge solutions for digital products. It would also act as a nearshore premise for customers based in North America, enabling new-age initiatives in digital engineering.

In addition, the tech firm also plans to hire more than 100 engineers in the next 18–24 months. The centre was inaugurated by L&T Technology Services’ CEO and Managing Director Amit Chadha, in the presence of  Ziad Rizk, COO at Ground Transportation Systems (GTS), Chris Pogue, CEO at Thales Canada, and Apoorva Srivastava, Consul General of India, along with other delegates.

L&T Technology Services’ Chief Executive Officer Amit Chadha said with the new ER&D centre, their customers in Canada and North America can leverage their cutting-edge technologies and digital products. He further said that the company is building exciting opportunities in the Canadian business ecosystem while strategically expanding its North American footprint.

As a part of its global expansion plans, LTTS inaugurated the Engineering Design Centre in Toulouse, France, along with an ER&D Centre in Krakow, Poland, earlier this year.
