MapmyIndia Joins Hands With ISRO To Provide Indigenous Mapping Solutions

ISRO and MapmyIndia have joined hands to offer fully indigenous mapping portal and geospatial services under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The project will combine the digital maps and related technologies with ISRO’s catalogue of satellite imagery and earth observation data to offer a hyper-local and indigenous mapping solution.

MapmyIndia said the mapping solution will be detailed and comprehensive, giving users a bird’s eye view and map-based analytics and insights on weather, pollution, land use, natural disasters, and agricultural output. The maps and APIs will enhance ISRO’s geoportals and empower scientists, academia, researchers, and government organisations with satellite imagery, earth observation and digital map data, and advanced geospatial technologies on one platform.

MapmyIndia has built a strong, sustainable business based on delivering world-class, positively impactful and valuable digital map data products, navigation solutions, mapping APIs, automotive technology platforms, geospatial analytics and GIS solutions, IoT and telematics products, big data and AI solutions, enterprise software (SaaS) / platforms (PaaS), and full-stack digital automotive, business and government technology solutions to enterprises and app developers, and GPS gadgets and apps for consumers. Foreign mapping solutions come with hidden costs such as user-based advertisement, privacy and ethical issues. However, MapmyIndia doesn’t work on the advertising business model, ensuring better privacy, the company’s statement read.

MapmyIndia was founded in 1995 and has since then created a feature-rich, comprehensive, and updated digital map data product. In the last 25 years, the company has mapped 7.5 lakh villages, over 7,500 cities, connected by 63 lakh kilometres of road network pan India.
