Maharashtra-based space-tech company InspeCity has raised $5.6 million in seed funding to accelerate its efforts in satellite life extension and sustainable space operations. The funding round was led by investor Ashish Kacholia, with contributions from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF Kavachh, and Anicut Capital.

The funds will be used to space-qualify technologies within 12 months, expand the engineering team, and fast-track global deployment. Founded in 2022 by IIT Bombay alumni, InspeCity aims to extend satellite lifespans and reduce orbital debris using a proprietary platform of propulsion, robotics, and Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) technologies.

“Our mission is to redefine the economics and sustainability of satellite operations,” Arindrajit Chowdhury, CEO of InspeCity, said. The startup also received support from the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) programme, which provided early-stage validation of its technologies.

The company has achieved milestones under iDEX’s defence innovation challenges and has formed strategic collaborations in Taiwan and Japan to bolster its international reach.

“InspeCity’s bold vision for satellite life-extension, backed by a fully integrated stack of propulsion, robotics, and sensing technologies, positions them to become a global leader in in-orbit servicing,” Kacholia said.

The funding will also support the company’s efforts to build India’s space infrastructure presence through indigenous manufacturing and regional collaboration. Speciale Invest’s Vishesh Rajaram explained, “InspeCity represents the next wave of Indian deeptech. Their vertically integrated architecture in ISAM uniquely positions them to lead the charge in orbital sustainability.”

InspeCity’s technology is aimed at commercial and strategic applications, with a focus on shaping global space sustainability practices.
