Taxmann, a leading legal content provider in India, has partnered with EY India to launch Taxmann.AI, an AI-powered platform designed to streamline tax research and document drafting for legal and tax professionals.

At launch, the platform features ‘Ask Bot’ that processes natural language queries and delivers structured, source-backed responses. These include links to sections of law, rules, circulars, case law, and expert commentary.

Users can also analyse complex legal documents, extract insights, identify similar legal precedents, and integrate results into Microsoft Word.

The second feature, the ‘Draft Bot’, is scheduled to roll out in the next phase. It will help users validate legal notices from tax authorities, identify potential issues, and generate draft responses supported by relevant provisions and case law.

“India’s tax ecosystem has undergone a remarkable digital transformation,” said Sameer Gupta, national tax leader at EY India. “With AI driving the next wave of tax transformation, our collaboration with Taxmann reflects a shared vision to empower tax and legal professionals with greater speed, efficiency and smarter decision-making based on authentic data.”

Rakesh Bhargava, managing director at Taxmann, said, “By combining our decades of tax and legal content expertise with the proven AI technology of EY, we’re delivering a solution that truly understands the requirements of Indian tax and legal professions.”

The platform is built on EY’s enterprise-grade Tax Technology infrastructure, processing transactions for over 3,300 corporates annually. Taxmann.AI uses content from Taxmann’s proprietary tax and legal library, which the company has developed over the past six decades. All responses are grounded in verifiable source material.

The collaboration between EY India and Taxmann marks a strategic move to address the workflow challenges in Indian tax research through AI. The platform is now available to professionals across the country.
