Michigan-headquartered auto tech firm Pi Square Technologies opened its India tech centre in Bengaluru on Friday. IT minister Ashwath Narayan inaugurated the new office located at Karle Town Centre SEZ in North Bengaluru.
According to the company’s statement, the centre aims to focus on embedded engineering services and innovative product development for global automotive and (OEM) original equipment manufacturing giants, along with several Fortune 500 companies.
Initially, more than 120 engineers will be working at the Bengaluru facility, further scaling up to 1,000 over the next two years. Some of the key focus areas include automotive technologies such as connected vehicles, in-vehicle infotainment, advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), (which leads to battery management systems), autonomous driving, software-over-the-air (SOTA) update, and functional safety.
“Bengaluru houses more than 400 R&D centres in various technologies. Glad that Pi Square Technologies is opening its automotive tech centre here. With cars becoming increasingly software-driven, the Silicon Valley of India will play a major role in the global automotive industry,” said the minister.
Pi Square group president Sarat Kothapalli said, “The India Tech Centre -- Bengaluru is an important part of our growth strategy. We are strengthening our partnerships with global automotive majors to achieve greener, safer, innovative, and efficient mobility solutions.”
In addition, Srinivas Raju, chief executive officer, Pi Square India, said the new tech hub is a major step towards realising the firm’s goal of advancement in product innovation and capacity development. “It paves the way for our next steps towards a stronger and highly-efficient managed services delivery system,” he said.
