Google has announced that it is bringing Personal Intelligence to India through its Gemini app. This feature connects user apps to generate more context-driven responses. For instance, they can connect apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search to receive responses based on their own data.

Personal Intelligence is being made available to eligible Google AI subscription users, including Plus, Pro, and Ultra tiers, with plans to expand to free users in the coming weeks. It will be available across the web, Android, and iOS platforms once enabled through the Gemini app settings.

The company said the feature is optional and gives users control over which apps are connected. “You choose to turn it on, decide exactly which apps to connect, and can turn it off anytime,” the Google India team said in a statement.

Personal Intelligence works by combining reasoning across multiple sources with the retrieval of specific user data. According to Google, it can pull details from emails, photos, and browsing history to answer queries.

The search giant said privacy is central to the feature. App connections are disabled by default, and data is accessed only to respond to user prompts. “Gemini doesn’t train directly on your Gmail inbox or Google Photos library,” the company said. Instead, it uses limited information such as prompts and responses, after filtering or obfuscating personal data.

The company also said Gemini will indicate or explain the sources used in its responses. Users can request more details or correct outputs.

Google acknowledged limitations in the current version. The system may produce inaccurate responses or make incorrect assumptions based on user data. “You may encounter inaccurate responses or ‘over-personalisation,’ where the model makes connections between unrelated topics,” the company said, urging users to provide feedback.
