IT services firm HCLTech has secured a multi-year engineering services contract from Volkswagen Group's e.solutions to support the development of next-generation automotive infotainment and connectivity platforms.
Under the agreement, HCLTech will work with Germany-based e.solutions on the development, integration, and validation of human-machine interface (HMI) software for multiple vehicle programmes.
The platforms will be built on Android Automotive and will support connected in-car experiences across different vehicle models and markets.
The engagement comes as global automakers increasingly invest in software-defined vehicles, with software capabilities, connectivity features, and digital cockpit experiences becoming key differentiators.
Volkswagen Group-owned e.solutions develops infotainment and communication software for automotive manufacturers and suppliers. The company said the partnership intends to help scale software development across multiple vehicle programmes while maintaining consistency in user experience and software quality.
“Our partnership with HCLTech enables us to scale HMI software development across diverse vehicle programs while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and user experience. Together, we are building the foundation for the next generation of software-defined mobility,” Uwe Reder, CEO, e.solutions, said in a statement.
For HCLTech, the deal strengthens its presence in automotive engineering and mobility services, an area where IT service providers are seeing growing demand from automakers seeking external engineering talent to accelerate software development cycles.
“By combining AI-driven engineering and a deep understanding of the automotive sector, we will empower e.solutions to accelerate and develop world-class infotainment platforms,” said Pankaj Tagra, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head, Mobility at HCLTech.
HCLTech, which employs more than 227,000 people globally, reported revenue of $14.7 billion for the 12 months ended March 2026.
