IBM and Yotta Data Services plan to build an agentic AI platform for enterprises and government organisations in India, combining IBM’s AI software stack with Yotta’s sovereign cloud infrastructure.
The proposed platform will use IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate and run on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud, targeting organisations looking to deploy AI systems while meeting requirements around data residency, security, and regulatory compliance.
The companies said the platform is intended to help enterprises deploy and manage AI agents across functions such as IT service management, finance, procurement, human resources, and customer support.
They will jointly pursue proof-of-concept deployments, solution co-creation, and technical enablement initiatives across sectors, including banking and financial services, manufacturing, public sector, and digital-native businesses.
The announcement comes as enterprises move from pilot AI projects to operational deployments and seek infrastructure that allows governance and compliance controls alongside AI automation.
As part of the collaboration, IBM and Yotta also plan to bring IBM Sovereign Core to India by deploying it on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud.
IBM Sovereign Core is a software platform that helps organisations build and operate sovereign AI environments with compliance monitoring, governed AI execution, and operational controls.
“AI innovation in India must be anchored in sovereignty, security, and performance. Together with IBM, we propose to enable enterprises to harness the power of agentic AI on a secure, India-hosted cloud, so they can innovate with confidence while maintaining control over their data and operations,” Sunil Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Yotta Data Services, said in a statement.
The platform combines compliance monitoring, identity management, encryption, governed AI execution, and audit-ready controls within a single deployment framework. It is built on Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat AI.
By hosting the platform on Yotta’s India-based infrastructure, the partnership aims to support enterprises and government organisations in meeting data residency mandates and operating AI workloads within sovereign boundaries.
“This collaboration will combine IBM’s AI capabilities with Yotta’s sovereign cloud infrastructure to help organisations scale AI responsibly—embedding sovereignty, governance, transparency, and trust from the outset,” said Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia.
Yotta said its Shakti Cloud provides GPU infrastructure and AI services for enterprises, including AI labs, inference services, and Kubernetes clusters with GPU resources. The company operates data centre parks in Navi Mumbai and Greater Noida and is part of NVIDIA’s cloud partner ecosystem.
