Semiconductor company Marvell Technology has announced plans to invest $250 million in India over the next three years, expanding its research and development capabilities, workforce and infrastructure to support the growing demand for AI, cloud and data infrastructure technologies.
The announcement was made as the company marked 20 years of operations in India, underscoring the country’s growing importance in Marvell’s global engineering and semiconductor strategy.
As part of the investment, Marvell will double its headcount in India over the next three years, inaugurate a new wing at its Bengaluru office and expand its presence in Hyderabad. The company said the expansion will strengthen its global innovation network and accelerate the development of next-generation semiconductor technologies powering AI workloads, hyperscale data centres and cloud platforms.
“India has become a strategic hub of engineering excellence for Marvell, playing a critical role in advancing the infrastructure technologies that power the world's leading hyperscalers and cloud providers,” said Navin Bishnoi, Associate Vice President and India Country Manager at Marvell.
Marvell established its India operations in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since grown the country into its second-largest R&D organisation globally. Engineering teams across Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad contribute to the company’s work in advanced semiconductor technologies, including process nodes beyond 2nm, high-speed analogue IP, subsystem design, software and firmware development, and end-to-end silicon engineering.
Beyond R&D, Marvell said it is investing in the broader semiconductor ecosystem through partnerships with universities, startups, industry bodies and government agencies. These collaborations include internship programmes, faculty development initiatives, joint research projects and curriculum development aimed at preparing students for careers in advanced technology and semiconductor engineering.
Alongside the investment announcement, Marvell highlighted its recently launched Marvell Scholarship for Technical and Engineering Merit (M-STEM) programme, which aims to strengthen India’s future semiconductor and AI talent pipeline.
The scholarship programme, launched earlier this year, received more than 7,000 applications from engineering students across India. Marvell selected 100 students pursuing degrees in electronics, electrical engineering and computer science to receive financial assistance, industry exposure and hands-on learning opportunities.
According to the company, the initiative is designed to help cultivate the next generation of semiconductor and AI innovators by combining academic support with practical industry engagement at a time when demand for specialised chip design and AI engineering talent continues to grow globally.
