Micron Technology has announced an agreement with Anthropic that includes collaboration on AI memory and storage infrastructure, a supply agreement, adoption of Anthropic’s Claude models across Micron, and a strategic investment in Anthropic’s Series H funding round.
In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round, valuing the company at $965 billion post-money. Besides Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix also joined the round.
Micron said the partnership will align the infrastructure needs of frontier AI models with the design, supply, and deployment of computing systems at scale.
“The AI revolution has permanently elevated the role of memory and storage solutions from the data centre to the edge,” said Sumit Sadana, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer at Micron. “Micron’s strategic collaboration with Anthropic brings together the industry-leading capabilities of both companies to innovate and scale next-generation AI infrastructure.”
As part of the agreement, Micron and Anthropic will work together on memory and storage technologies used in AI training and inference. The companies will evaluate how memory and storage subsystems perform across different workloads and interact with the broader infrastructure stack.
Micron said the collaboration is expected to improve memory and storage performance, energy efficiency, and token economics within Anthropic’s AI infrastructure.
The companies have also entered into a multi-year supply agreement covering Micron’s data centre memory and storage products. Micron said the arrangement will support Anthropic’s long-term compute requirements as demand for its AI models grows.
“Our compute strategy depends on getting every layer of the stack right, and memory and storage are central to how efficiently we can train and serve Claude,” said Tom Brown, Co-founder and Chief Compute Officer at Anthropic. “Partnering with Micron means we collaborate closely on optimising these systems for our workloads and secure the supply we need.”
Micron also said it has deployed Anthropic’s Claude models across engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise functions to support coding and other AI-driven workflows. The company said the models are being used on operational and engineering challenges and have contributed to productivity gains.
