Nutanix announced on 22nd October its collaboration with NVIDIA, Supermicro and Netris on infrastructure for production AI. All three arrangements are described as plans, and the company's own disclaimer says some features will be offered "on a when-and-if-available basis."

The American cloud software company said it plans to work toward "Day Zero" support for NVIDIA's Vera CPUs, starting with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) on bare metal, with planned expansion to virtualised Nutanix environments.

The company said demand for production AI is growing, and organisations are under pressure to deploy increasingly complex infrastructure faster and turn AI investments into business value. It says capacity constraints and operational complexity can slow progress.

The stated aim of the partnerships is to reduce deployment complexity, speed up time to value and cut AI costs.

Nutanix argues that agentic AI workloads combine inference with tool calls, code execution and retrieval, so CPU performance is expected to become essential between GPU operations. It will pair Vera with NVIDIA OpenShell to create private runtime environments for agents.

"AI agents need fast CPUs to execute code, use tools and process data between model calls," Hannah Coutand, Director of Product Marketing for Vera CPU at NVIDIA, said.

Nutanix and Supermicro announced plans for a jointly engineered system combining Supermicro servers, NVIDIA GPUs, Nutanix Agentic AI (NAI) and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking.

The companies say it aims to cut custom configuration and integration delays and lower token costs for enterprises running inference on-premises. Nutanix would supply the AI cloud control plane and AI storage.

Nutanix Cloud Platform will be integrated with Netris's network automation and multitenancy platform. Netris would handle the physical network fabric, enforcing tenant isolation on networking hardware. The target customers are AI cloud providers that rent out GPU infrastructure.

Thomas Cornely, Nutanix's Executive Vice President of Product Management, said the collaborations mean "we plan to help customers accelerate deployments of agents and AI services on a unified platform with built-in security, performance, and governance."

Nutanix's forward-looking statements notice says the information "should not be used when making a purchasing decision." It adds that the company does not commit to delivering any described functionality, and that the collaborations remain subject to development work and commercial arrangements among the parties. No pricing, release dates or performance figures were given.
