Oracle has partnered with OpenAI to integrate its AI models, ChatGPT and Codex, into Oracle’s enterprise applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure, introducing products for business operations, application development, and cybersecurity.

Announced at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on October 27, the collaboration includes four offerings: Oracle AI Workspace, Oracle AI Security Mesh, Oracle App Composer and Oracle AI SMB Bundle.

The products will allow employees to access business data through ChatGPT, build applications using Codex, test systems for security vulnerabilities and deploy AI-powered applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

“More businesses are choosing OpenAI as we make it easier to put AI to work through the tools and systems they already use,” said Greg Brockman, President and Co-founder of OpenAI. “Our expanded partnership with Oracle helps bring that opportunity to more companies, putting frontier AI into everyday operations so teams can build software faster, strengthen security and take on more complex knowledge work.”

Oracle AI Workspace will bring Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database and OCI into a unified experience accessible through ChatGPT. Employees will be able to retrieve information, complete approved workflows and take actions across connected enterprise systems.

The offering will use plugins in ChatGPT to connect users with Oracle applications, enterprise data and cloud services. Oracle said the system will retain governance mechanisms, approvals and access controls required for business operations.

“With this new product suite, we are uniting their transformative AI capabilities with Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure,” said Clay Magouyrk, CEO of Oracle. He added that these are technologies businesses rely on to run their critical operations.

Oracle AI Security Mesh will use OpenAI's cyber models to help organisations identify and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure before attackers can exploit them.

The managed service will cover environments running on OCI, other cloud platforms and on-premises infrastructure. Oracle will combine OpenAI models with its security testing tools, validation processes and testing infrastructure.

Customers will determine which systems can be tested and define the scope of authorised testing. Oracle will manage safeguards intended to reduce the risk of outages and business disruption.

The service is intended to help organisations use AI-driven security testing without having to develop and operate their own defensive and offensive AI systems.

Oracle App Composer will let employees build applications using Codex without requiring coding expertise. Oracle will manage deployment and operations on OCI, while the applications can connect to approved enterprise data and workflows.

The offering will also provide access to OCI services, including Oracle Kubernetes Engine and Oracle Autonomous AI Database. It will apply identity management, permissions, networking, auditing and application lifecycle controls to AI-generated applications.

App Composer will support APEXlang, a new Oracle technology that the company said is intended to combine generative application development with code that is easier to maintain.

Oracle AI SMB Bundle will provide small businesses with $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits annually through a free-to-start offering, subject to terms and conditions.

The bundle combines ChatGPT Business for everyday work, Oracle AI Workspace for accessing enterprise applications and data, Codex and App Composer for application development, and OCI for deployment.

It will also include NetSuite QuickStart, which provides tools to manage business operations such as invoicing and cash flow.

The offering brings AI assistants, application development tools and cloud infrastructure into a single package for businesses looking to build products and manage operations without assembling these services separately.
