Sol, an artificial intelligence startup founded by former CRED executives, has emerged from stealth with $4 million in funding. The company said the round included participation from General Catalyst, Nexus Venture Partners, DeVC, Peercheque, and CRED founder and the current Global Head of WhatsApp, Kunal Shah.
Sol is building an AI assistant for email management. It proactively identifies commitments and automates the process of researching, documenting, and drafting replies without waiting for a manual prompt.
"People whose work runs through email often have to repeat themselves: first in email, then again when they ask an AI tool to act," said Anish Karan, CEO of Sol, in a statement. "If I've already said I'll do something, there should be an AI that gets started on it."
According to the company, Sol finds commitments expressed in Gmail, such as agreeing to send an analysis, share a proposal, or set up a meeting. It then gathers relevant context and starts the work needed to fulfil those commitments, including research, document and presentation creation, and meeting coordination. Users retain final approval before anything is sent, scheduled or shared, the company said.
The company said Sol operates in its own computer environment, can use a browser, and draws on a library of more than 100 specialist skills to complete multi-step tasks. As per the company, it intends to let Sol move from an email commitment to a finished draft or scheduled action, with the user approving or editing the result at the end.
Sol said it is designed for people whose work runs through high volumes of email, including founders, executives, and professionals in sales, marketing, consulting, recruiting, and agencies. The company is initially offering access through a waitlist at hellosol.app, and said it plans to expand general access.
Sol was founded by Anish Karan, Prateek Srivastava, and Ranjith Nair. Karan earlier worked on product retention and monetisation in CRED. Srivastava worked as the engineering leader at the fintech company, while Nair led the design and execution for CRED’s core payments products.
Akarsh Shrivastava, Partner at General Catalyst, said the firm's decision to back Sol was shaped by the founding team. "Anish is a second-time founder and one of the sharpest product minds we've worked with, turning referrals into a top growth channel for eighteen months in a market where they rarely work," Shrivastava said.
Jishnu Bhattacharjee, Partner at Nexus Venture Partners, said the firm was drawn to the product's simplicity. "What got us excited about Sol is that Anish and team are building AI that just knows when to act and proactively does the right things," Bhattacharjee said.
The company said it plans to extend general access to its AI assistant soon.
