Spain-based Submer Group has announced a $2 billion (approximately ₹19,000 crore) investment in Madhya Pradesh’s semiconductor sector, marking one of the state’s largest commitments in advanced technology manufacturing. The project is expected to generate nearly 5,000 direct jobs as the state officials mentioned to AIM.
The announcement was made during the MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0 in Bhopal, where the Madhya Pradesh government positioned the investment as a significant milestone in its efforts to attract high-tech manufacturing and digital infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, it is the culmination of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC) and Spain-based Submer Technologies in July 2025.
The agreement paved the path to developing up to 1 gigawatt of next-generation, AI-ready data centre capacity in Madhya Pradesh, using Submer’s advanced cooling technologies. According to the state government, the investment will support Madhya Pradesh’s ambitions to emerge as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing and related digital infrastructure.
In addition to the semiconductor project, Submer Group has sought land for a data centre, with the government allotting 15 acres in the Acharpura Industrial Area within six days of the company’s request.
The rapid land allocation underscores the state’s push to fast-track strategic technology investments amid increasing competition among Indian states to attract semiconductor and AI infrastructure projects.
Submer Group, headquartered in Spain, serves major cloud and digital infrastructure customers globally and has been expanding its manufacturing footprint to meet rising demand driven by artificial intelligence and hyperscale data centres. With the latest investment, Madhya Pradesh joins a growing list of states seeking to establish themselves as destinations for semiconductor manufacturing, AI infrastructure, and data centre investments as India’s electronics and digital economy continues to expand.
