TCS has signed a multi-million-dollar, multi-year agreement with ABB to modernise the industrial technology company's global network operations using AI, expanding a partnership that spans more than two decades.
Under ABB's Future Network Model programme, TCS will design, integrate and operate the company's global network as an AI-driven, secure and standardised digital infrastructure. The Indian IT services giant will deliver the engagement through a network-as-a-service model, marking an expansion of its role from managing infrastructure and applications to running end-to-end global network operations.
The deal includes the establishment of a global network operations centre, service integration and management (SIAM), advanced cybersecurity capabilities, and the modernisation of ABB’s LAN, WAN and software-defined WAN infrastructure. TCS will also provide end-to-end monitoring and orchestration across ABB's multi-vendor network ecosystem.
"The Future Network Model represents an important milestone in reinforcing the digital foundation of ABB's global operations," said Alec Joannou, Group CIO at ABB. He added that the initiative aims to build a resilient and secure network ecosystem aligned with the company's long-term transformation goals.
Anupam Singhal, President and Head of Manufacturing at TCS, said the company would embed AI into ABB's network operations to create systems that can "sense, adapt, and improve continuously" while improving reliability, security, user experience and scalability.
The latest engagement builds on more than 20 years of collaboration between the two companies, during which TCS has supported ABB's ERP consolidation, SAP transformation and cloud modernisation programmes.
Shares of TCS rose around 5% on Monday following the announcement, extending gains seen after the company's June-quarter earnings last week. The company reported a 13.9% year-on-year rise in June-quarter revenue to ₹72,275 crore, its fourth straight quarter of sequential growth, alongside $9.5 billion in fresh order bookings.
TCS also said that its annualised revenue from AI-led engagements crossed $2.6 billion, up 13.6% sequentially.
