Tech Mahindra has partnered with industrial technology company Infinite Uptime to accelerate physical AI adoption across manufacturing and process industries.

The partnership will combine Infinite Uptime’s PlantOS, an industrial outcome intelligence engine, with Tech Mahindra’s manufacturing expertise, global reach, and IT-OT transformation capabilities.

The companies said the partnership will help manufacturers move from predictive insights to prescribed actions by embedding industrial intelligence into plant workflows and tracking its impact on production performance.

Infinite Uptime’s PlantOS combines mechanical and process signals with physics-aware contextualisation and failure-mode intelligence. It provides recommendations on what action to take, why it is required, and when it should be completed, according to the company.

The approach is similar to recent industrial AI efforts that use models to determine interventions rather than simply predict outcomes. For example, factory optimisation using physical AI has focused on using AI to determine interventions that can affect real-world production outcomes.

Tech Mahindra will use its SIIM approach (simulate, integrate, implement and maintain) to validate, integrate, and deploy physical AI solutions across existing production, operational technology, and enterprise environments.

This will allow manufacturers to embed prescriptive intelligence into complex plant operations rather than treating AI as a standalone layer.

The partnership will target steel, cement, chemicals, metals and mining, pulp and paper, and other asset-intensive industries, where industrial AI is also being applied to areas such as predictive maintenance and operational intelligence. The initial focus will be North America and Europe, particularly larger transformation programmes where equipment reliability and production performance are closely linked.

“The next phase of industrial transformation will be shaped by the ability to convert industrial intelligence into timely action,” Manikantan NS, SVP & Global Head – Manufacturing Vertical, Tech Mahindra, said in a statement. “We will help enterprises embed this intelligence across complex plant environments and achieve tangible improvements in reliability, productivity, and operational resilience.”

Infinite Uptime said its deployments have resulted in more than 167,837 hours of operator-validated downtime savings across more than 1,000 plants, 172 customers, nine industrial verticals, and 28 countries.
