Given the recent developments in the field of data science and analytics, demand for data scientists and machine learning engineers has risen significantly. Data Science is one of the most exciting careers currently and our recent article, citing data from LinkedIn indicated that there are 9.8 times more ML engineers working today as compared to five years ago. A LinkedIn survey put Machine learning Engineers and Data Scientists among the emerging job roles in the ‘Emerging Jobs’ list. Today, Data Scientists are increasingly required to have the skills beyond just statistical tools and techniques and achieving this requires a broader skill set across the data science and software engineering spectrum.
Great Learning’s full-time 5-month Data Science & Engineering programme aimed at freshers and early stage career professionals has been developed in response to the growing demand for data scientists and data engineers. This applied programme, which provides a comprehensive introduction to machine learning with Python and SQL trains candidates with 0-3 years of work experience in the high demand area of data science and engineering. The full-time classroom programme, covers the breadth and depth required for a career in Data Science and Engineering and balances theory and practice effectively. The programme is led by an experienced faculty and practicing data science professionals. The project-based coursework emphasises practical proficiency through a series of hands-on projects and case studies.
To gain skills in this field, one needs to understand how to apply machine learning concepts to data using Python and SQL. The well-paced programme trains candidates in data processing and analysis with Python and also teaches how to build accurate data science models using Python libraries. A module on database programming with MySQL teaches how to query data using MySQL.
“The PGP-DSE programme has been offered keeping in mind the exponential increase in job opportunities in the industry across not just the country, but globally. The programme has been designed to impart industry relevant knowledge in the shortest and most impactful way possible. Like all programmes offered by Great Learning, this programme focuses on learning by doing, with participants getting hands-on experience on data tools and techniques so that they’re job-ready from Day 1” says Hari Nair, Co-Founder, Great Learning.
