ThoughtWorks India held its flagship technology event XConf India in Bangalore on Friday. The 2022 edition was the first in-person event to be held since pandemic.
The event was designed by tech experts of Thoughtworks for technologists across several domains to create an impact through responsible and sustainable technology.
The event began with insightful keynotes from industry experts. Supriyo Ghosh, chief architect of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) spoke in detail about the ONDC architecture. He spoke about the foundational principles of the network, the Beckn Protocol (an open protocol with community governance model), the tech initiatives and the opportunities that the network offers. ONDC holds immense potential to democratise digital commerce by transitioning from centralised platforms to protocol-enabled decentralised networks, thereby enabling interoperability and lowering the barriers to entry for SMES in India.
Heads of Technology at ThoughtWorks India, Bharani Subramaniam and Vanya Seth spoke about the technology trends that have been disrupting our day-to-day life in general and the IT industry, in particular. Prominent among them include scripting the kernel, shifting left cost i.e., taking ownership of rising cloud costs and reducing the same using the Observe-Optimize-Operate model. Preserving data privacy while linking databases (record linkage), addressing authorisation as a problem with SpiceDB that has been inspired from Google’s Zanzibar, pretotyping and cleaning the software supply chain systems were some more trends discussed.
The overall focus of XConf 2022 was data democratisation, emerging tech trends and digital transformation.
