The Rising, one of the AI world’s most looked forward to events, is scheduled for April 8 this year. Organised by Analytics India Magazine in partnership with Fractal, The Rising brings together some of the most sought after women leaders in AI and data science. In the last three years, the event has gained a good reputation where leading visionaries share their experience of building a successful career in the ever-dynamic field of data science. In its fourth edition, which is being held in person, the event is expected to host 250 attendees, feature more than 15 industry leaders, and see participation from over 100 leading companies.

Here we list why you should not miss The Rising event this year.

Meet the women leaders in data science

The conference will help aspirants in gaining insights into the latest trends in data science right from the leaders themselves. The conference will feature keynote speeches and workshops conducted by field experts. However, the most attractive feature is that these women leaders will talk about their data science journeys. At a time when the data science field is experiencing massive positive transformation, aspirants need role models that they can look up to. Given there are such few women in leadership roles in data science and machine learning domains, it is not seen as a natural career option for many. The Rising event will support and discuss opportunities for more women to join this domain.

Career advice from experts

There are 55 per cent women among the total university graduates across countries. However, only two-thirds of this number pursue a career in the STEM sector. Even fewer enter the data science domain. Women only account for 15-22 per cent of all data science professionals, according to many surveys like WEF, BCG research, and Gender Gap Report.

The Rising event will host working professionals, and other senior professionals will offer guidance on building a data science career. Such guidance will help students plan better and learn relevant skills to land a good job. It is not just beneficial for fresher graduates but also for mid-level to senior professionals looking to pivot.

Women in AI Awards

The highlight of The Rising event is the Women in AI Leadership Awards. This prestigious award is conferred to women who have made incredible contributions to the AI community and have helped advance the development of the industry. Some of the awardees in 2021 include stalwarts like Adwitiya Sarkar (American Express India Private Limited), Dr Aparna Mishra (EY Global Delivery Services), Minu Rachel Philip (Tiger Analytics), Nidhi Pratapneni (Wells Fargo), among others.
