To train the tech enthusiasts in data science and machine learning, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) in collaboration with TSW, the Executive Education Division of Times Professional Learning, launched a Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Data Science and Machine Learning. PGCPDSML is one of the many programmes that the institute plans to launch along with TSW.
The PG certificate programme is specially designed for working professionals to impart the knowledge in data science, ML and other related technologies. These will be live, online, instructor-led classes which will be conducted on weekends.
The programme is of a duration 11-months and will be covered in 10 modules. The course also includes three specialisations to choose from in the last module — computer vision & image recognition, speech recognition and data engineering. The course will be conducted over 450 hours of learning which will include more than 136 hours of live virtual sessions by IIT-R faculty and industry experts.
The programme will include 10 projects and real datasets providing a hand-on experience on topics such as recommendation system, auto-tagging, sentiment analysis, satellite image classification, building chatbot and more.
The programme was launched at a virtual event. During the launch professor Ajit K Chaturvedi, director, IIT-R, said, “The situation arising out of COVID-19 pandemic has given us hope that many such programmes can be effectively delivered online provided the programme is for a longer duration. Our partnership with TSW seeks to achieve this with the 11-month certificate programme.”
The minimum qualification to apply for the programme include a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, with a minimum 50% aggregate. It also requires a two year of work experience, preferably in the software domain. The programme doesn’t require any prior knowledge of coding. On successful completion of the course, the certificate would be provided by IIT-R.
“We have partnered with IIT Roorkee in bringing a programme in Data Sciences and Machine Learning that has specific modules on Deep Learning and AI, backed with a specialisation that is promising and rewarding,” said Anish Srikrishna, CEO, Times Professional Learning.
