“India is number one in terms of AI reports and projects,” said Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella, at its Future Ready Leadership Summit in Mumbai, on Tuesday.
This came when Nadella was asked about innovations happening in India. “In terms of AI reports or AI projects, India is number one, and that’s pretty huge. If the next big age is going to be AI, the human capital is already here and doing innovative things and they’re not doing it in isolation. They’re doing it in the context of making a financial services product, doing better risk assessment, better insurance, or energy transition and that’s fantastic to see,” Nadella said.
He further said that India will be the third largest economy by the end of this decade, overtaking Japan and Germany. Recently, India overtook the UK to become the fifth-largest economy in the world.
When it comes to startups, India is already a hotbed. The Microsoft chief executive said that India, apart from being the second-largest economy for startups, also happens to be the second-largest contributor to the developer ecosystem.
“On GitHub, which is sort of a place to see what’s happening with developers worldwide, India is now the second-biggest contributor of the developer ecosystem,” he said.
