The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India has recently launched their dedicated Twitter handle in order to share accurate and correct news, updates and awareness about the novel coronavirus. The trending hashtag by the government is #IndiaFightsCorona and named its handle @CovidnewsbyMIB.
On the Twitter page, the first tweet stated the helpline numbers and awareness information on the COVID-19 pandemic.
It stated, “Dear citizens, we should not get “infodemic” while fighting against #CoronaOutbreak. It is essential to be updated with correct information on #COVID19.”
It further stated, Do “follow @COVIDNewsbyMIB for authentic information and all updates on novel coronavirus (COVID-19),”. The tweet featured a photo with the government’s helpline number written on it.
This initiative can help the government in smashing false facts on coronavirus among the country’s citizens.
In a subsequent tweet, @COVIDNewsbyMIB urged its followers to not fall prey to all the wrong information being spread on the virus. It stated, “Don’t fall prey to myths about #COVID19. Rather be a myth buster and spread correct information. Follow @COVIDNewsByMIB to smash false facts on #CoronavirusPandemic.”
@COVIDNewsbyMIB is going to act as a one-stop source on the latest number of coronavirus cases, relief measures by the government and economic measures.
It also tweeted a few information
1. Over 21,000 #COVID2019 relief camps set up in States & UTs
2. More than 6.66 lakh migrant workers have been given shelter
3. Around 23 lakh stranded, poor & destitute people are being provided food.
@COVIDNewsbyMIB also tweeted a document from the finance ministry detailing “important features and time limits which get extended by Taxation and Other Laws (Relaxation of Certain Provisions) Ordinance, 2020”.
