Intel® Announces oneAPI DevSummit, Asia-Pacific & Japan — An Exclusive Event For HPC & AI Developers

In an effort to shine a spotlight on heterogeneous computing across cross-platform architectures, including CPU, GPU, FPGA, and other accelerators, Intel® has announced oneAPI DevSummit, Asia-Pacific & Japan, for 15th September 2021.

oneAPI Developer Summit, APJ is a peer-to-peer community event where industry speakers and academicians showcase their innovative work and share their experiences on heterogeneous computing  The summit has been designed to build a self-sustained, vibrant community of developers who can support each other in using oneAPI and Data Parallel C++ programming language getting trained, developing and submitting code.

The one-day live virtual conference has been exclusively designed for HPC, GPU and AI developers working with CPU & GPU and are interested in oneAPI, DPC++ programming language, AI Analytics toolkit, and heterogeneous computing offload on CPU GPU and FPGA. The summit offers developers and programmers a direct line to connect with peers and learn the concept of oneAPI and Data Parallel C++.

The conference has five segments: keynote, tech talks, lightning talks, panel discussion, and hands-on workshop.

The Tech Talks are the core technical sessions, where Intel customers, developers and oneAPI certified instructors will be showcasing their innovative work using oneAPI, DPC++ and AI/ML. Here, industry veteran Andrew Richards, CEO of Codeplay will share the SYCL integration story, and TCS will highlight the IE Dynaport Smartport case study project.

Following that are the Lighting Talks, which are short sessions designed to showcase their innovation and technical work such as converting existing code to DPC++, using TAU to instrument code without any modifying the application binary, and how users can run up to 40x faster their ML applications using oneAPI.

The Panel Discussion on “Reskilling of Developers for HPC & AI” will have subject matter experts discussing challenges developers need to handle in HPC and AI domains. The panel shall touch on developer expectations on learning new toolsets, methodologies and roles of communities.

In addition, the summit is hosting an exclusive hands-on oneAPI Workshop, which will be led by Lakshmi Narasimhan and Dr Amarpal Kapoor. The workshop will dive into a hands-on session on “Intel® oneAPI Toolkits for HPC and AI applications” where attendees will be able to learn about use cases on oneAPI, how to port an HPC application to Intel GPUs, how to deploy an AI application on a traditional HPC cluster, and will get a hands-on lab.

oneAPI DevSummit, APJ is expecting to host 20+ speakers, including big names from industries such as TCS, Sankhyasutra Labs, Codeplay, Tiger Analytics, InAccel, AlgoAsylum and academicians from the universities like the University of Oregon, University of Pune, North Carolina State University, IIT Kanpur, etc. along with Intel software Innovator Andrew Pastrello.
