Wearables are becoming a fashion statement among the youth today. The wearable market is budding and we are seeing a lot of India start-ups entering this space. IoT India Magazine brings you one such company, Ducere Technologies, which has brought in innovation in the field of wearable technology through their product Lechal.
Ducere Technologies focuses on creating intuitive, unobtrusive and user-friendly wearable technology innovations. The brainchild of Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma, graduates of the University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively, the Hyderabad-based company was set up in 2011 with the aim of taking wearable technology to the people.
Ducere launched its first product – the world’s first interactive haptic footwear – under the brand name Lechal in 2014. Today, Lechal is a fashion and lifestyle brand that has been recognized globally for innovation, winning several awards and recognitions.
Lechal (lay-chull, “Take me along” in Hindi) footwear technology is a disruptive innovation designed to smoothly integrate into the everyday. Lechal is the world’s first haptic footwear that allows you to navigate hands-free and also tracks your fitness metrics.
The innovation is currently available as insoles. The stylish and comfortable smart insoles can slip into footwear like any other, but offers never-before-seen functionality. By pairing the insoles with the Lechal app to Here Maps via Bluetooth, the user can set a destination and receive directions via haptic vibrations on his/her feet making any journey truly hands-free. The Lechal app is available on both android & IOS. If the wearer needs to turn left, the left side will gently vibrate and so on. Navigating to a variety of destinations has never been easier, and users are no longer required to stare at a screen constantly to ensure they are navigating to the correct destination. Lechal also has an offline mode, so you don’t need to be connected to use the product. The long battery life of up to 15 days on a single charge, makes it an apt choice for tech lovers.
Lechal is for everyone – early adopters of wearables, people who like to travel and explore, fitness freaks, cyclists, runners, people who are tech-savvy and those who are not, backseat drivers, design aficionados, the fashion-conscious, and the use cases are as varied as the users.
For users that desire fitness metrics, users can set goals, create custom fitness plans, track steps taken, calories burned and distance traveled. The App stores all of the data, making it easy to track progress and share with friends.
