Abhay Vijayvargiya

Abhay Vijayvargiya is an AI Engineer at BharatGen, where he works on speech recognition and multilingual AI systems designed for India’s diverse linguistic ecosystem. His work focuses on developing foundational AI technologies tailored for real-world Indian language applications.

Among his notable projects is Shrutam 2, an open-source LLM-based Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system that combines a rich encoder with a decoder-only large language model architecture. The system also introduces a novel Mixture of Experts (MoE)-based projector and has been trained across 12 Indian languages. The model has been publicly released on Hugging Face.

Vijayvargiya also worked on Shrutam 1, a lightweight Conformer-based ASR model for Hindi that achieves state-of-the-art performance with an 11.5% Word Error Rate (WER). Like Shrutam 2, the model is available publicly on Hugging Face.

Through his work at BharatGen, Vijayvargiya is contributing to the development of high-quality foundational AI models tailored to India’s multilingual, large-scale deployment needs.
