After the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, OpenAI’s web traffic has touched 672 million visits. SimilarWeb’s latest data reveals visits have exploded to over 36 times in the span of just two months. ChatGPT controls over 92% of total website traffic.

Fascinatingly, over 1/5th of all users are from India and the US—with around 11% share each—which is an estimated 73.9 million visits per country in the last months. Other countries majorly visiting the website are France, Canada, and Germany.

Earlier, the views jumped from 18.3 million in November 2022 to 304 million in December 2022, a 1561% increase. Currently, there are 24 million average daily visits to the website due to the company’s conversational model. The analysis by Digital-adoption revealed that, based on traffic, OpenAI ranked 44th in the last month based on traffic globally. The AI company has surpassed almost every other social media content-related app, including TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, and others.

Meanwhile, Microsoft recently announced AI-powered Bing Search, which recorded a ten-fold increase in downloads. In the US, Bing is experiencing a surge in popularity and as a result it has shot up to 12th position among free iPhone apps. Simultaneously, Microsoft’s Edge browser is now ranked 3rd under utility apps.

Although the new Bing is now available, it is in a limited preview phase and users must join a waitlist to try the new AI features. The software giant’s push implies that the company intends to get ahead of its competition, especially Google. The latest AI-powered Bing Search is powered by OpenAI’s next generation model, which is more powerful than ChatGPT and GPT-3.5.
