Founded in 1995, Pune-headquartered Cybage is a global software product and engineering services organisation that designs and provides technology, strategy, and operations services. It has offices across the globe in 11 countries and has a workforce of 6,300 employees. 

Analytics India Magazine got in touch with Amit Gajwani, EVP – Global Sales, Cybage, to know more about the company’s inner workings.

AIM: What are the AI and analytics techniques that you use? 

Amit: Automation and optimisation are at the core of Cybage. At Cybage, our solutions are focused on modern technologies and are enabled by a scientific, data-driven system called DecisionMines for Digital Excellence. It was initially used internally for several years. This prescriptive and predictive analytics suite is a data mining tool. It is one of the major tools we use to digitally transform businesses. 

The tool is effective in removing biases from subjective decision-making that involves human intervention. This unique model de-risks our approach, provides better predictability, and ensures a better value per unit cost to our clients.

We also use advanced analytic techniques such as data mining, machine learning, pattern matching, forecasting, visualisation, semantic analysis, sentiment analysis, network and cluster analysis, multivariate statistics, graph analysis, simulation, complex event processing, and neural networks. We use the concept of relativity and combine it to optimise different functions. 

AIM: Tell us about the tech stack at Cybage. 

Amit: Cybage Software has been operational for more than 25 years, and our vision is to extend the expertise of Product Engineering Services (PES) to more ISVs and technology-enabled Enterprises by applying a combination of experts and agnostic technology choices propelled by DecisionMines — Cybage’s prescriptive analytics and decision management software.

The company is implementing a new age digital engineering (Process Integrated Engineering) methodology by leveraging the best offerings from the agile development world combined with tools driven digital engineering. Increased investment in knowledge backed technology squads aligned with digital technologies for compelling consumer experiences. To achieve this, we have been:

  • Investing heavily in cloud technologies. 
  • Make use of Java stack, .Net stack, and LAMP stack with Python PHP. 
  • DecisionMines — extensively makes use of the Java stack and Python and is based on microservices architecture. 

We help our customers leverage data to create meaningful insights for end customers through new product offerings or operational efficiencies for a better outcome.

AIM: What kind of IT solutions are businesses looking for in current times?

Amit: Businesses are looking to implement advanced technologies like robotic process automation, data management, digital workflow tools, AI/ML-based bots, low-code or no-code applications and cloud. 

Trends that we are witnessing:

  • Technology modernisation and usage of Intelligent tools including AI Ops or enterprise monitoring platforms, digital experience platforms, continuous and connected platforms, automation aggregators and intelligent feedback or insight-driven tools that are built into and underpinning the entire customer journey.
  • Tech-savvy enterprises are building and re-designing applications that leverage modern constructs such as SOA, API, microservices, containers, etc., to being world-class, nimble and agile and not be constrained by a technology stack. 
  • An increasing base of our customers is adopting a cloud-native approach to their digital and development transformation efforts. 

We helped multiple customers leverage benefits from data and built next-gen solutions and products that have enabled them to create new revenue channels. We enabled travel companies and hospitality chains to build relationships and stay connected with travellers across the “Dream to Share” travel lifecycle. We used AI and ML technologies to help travellers in decision making and effectively drive top-line growth. We have also Built Healthcare solutions for our customers to offer better diagnosis, treatment protocols, remote health, telehealth, wearable devices, mobile health apps, predictive models, and clinical decision support systems.

AIM: What are the key industries that you cater to?

Amit: Cybage’s focus lies on catering to technology-enabled businesses across sectors, including:

  • Travel and hospitality
  • Online-retail and eCommerce
  • Healthcare
  • Media and advertising
  • Supply chain and logistics 

Being a product engineering company, our markets are primarily in the West, with North America home to most of the customer base, followed by Europe and APAC regions. Currently, India contributes to two per cent of our business, and we look to increase this. The growth challenge posed by the COVID-19 pandemic is not as severe on the IT industry as it is on others. 

Businesses in India and worldwide are racing to adopt technology and digitally transform themselves. We are focused on delivering solutions to businesses worldwide that need digital transformation. As global markets reopen, Cybage is now renewing its focus on forging partnerships to tap into product engineering for enterprise solutions and on delivering innovative solutions.

AIM: Who are your top competitors? 

Amit: In today’s era, our competitors are all the top tier IT services companies from India and globally. Each of these organisations has a niche where they perform better than the others, similar to Cybage having a niche in the product engineering space.

Organisations like Infosys, Cognizant, Capgemini, Globallogic are some of the organisations that we come across more often during competitive bid situations.

AIM: What activities have you carried out as part of CSR amid these challenging times? 

Amit: Recently, we announced the launch of ‘Cybage Sanjivani’, a long-term initiative to support families belonging to economically weaker sections of society in distressing times. We have allocated an initial amount of INR 25 crores towards the relief fund. The twin CSR arms of Cybage—CybageAsha and CybageKhushboo are carrying out initiatives around rural upliftment, education, and healthcare.

Over the past year, Cybage has donated several ventilators and ICU beds to various hospitals in Maharashtra. In addition, numerous projects to support livelihood and supply essentials were undertaken and executed in the Cybage adopted communities.
