A prominent machine learning researcher, educator, and author, known for his contributions to the fields of deep learning, biometrics, and computational biology, Sebastian Raschka is currently a staff AI educator at Lightning AI, where he works on developing LLMs and creates educational materials leveraging the latest software and research concepts.
Raschka has authored several bestselling books on machine learning, including Python Machine Learning (2015), Python Machine Learning: 2nd Edition (2017), Python Machine Learning: 3rd Edition (2019), and Machine Learning with PyTorch and Scikit-Learn (2022).
He has developed tools like the Protein Recognition Index and Screenlamp data mining toolkits, and holds a patent for inhibiting FAK-AKT interaction to inhibit metastasis. Raschka served as an assistant professor of statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2018 to 2022, where he focused on the development of machine learning and deep learning methods.
At Lightning AI, Raschka works on developing and maintaining large language models, including LitGPT, which is similar to Karpathy’s NanoGPT but with additional abstractions.
