On Wednesday, Truecaller announced the launch of a COVID-19 Healthcare Directory for users in India. The health directory is claimed to be a quick and easier way to find hospitals. Users can access the directory from either the menu or the dialer within the beta version of the Truecaller Android app.
In an official blog post, it has been stated that the feature has been added in order to make it as easy as possible for everyone in India to find medical care near them. “It can be hard to find the right healthcare numbers when you need it most, so we’ve added it to the app, the author of the blog added.
The feature includes telephone numbers and addresses of COVID-19 designated hospitals from multiple states across the country. This Healthcare Directory is sourced from official government databases. A search button helps you quickly find the information you need, however it does not mean that hospital beds are available.
The COVID health directory appears on the top left corner of the dialer. Users will be able to see hospitals and healthcare providers in each area. According to sources, the caller ID service app will be updating it every day and making sure that as many hospital phone numbers from as many areas in India are available.
As of now, the Covid Hospital Directory Feature is only available on Android devices and in the beta version. It will be available for all Android users very soon.
In March this year, Truecaller joined hands with the local government services in India to provide a number directory within the Truecaller app. Starting with Karnataka, the caller ID service app has started working with some regional Indian government services to develop a directory that lists contacts from each government department within the app. This directory will serve as a single place for citizens to look up government contacts.
