Conversational AI tech company Uniphore acquired Emotional Research Lab, a video and emotion AI-based enterprise for an undisclosed price. Latter is a Spain based leading software company that uses AI and machine learning for identifying emotion and engagement levels over video interaction, in real time. Emotion Research Lab will formally join Uniphore’s team in the second half of 2021.
With this new acquisition, Uniphore aims as combining Emotion Research Lab’s video-focused capabilities with its own Conversational Service Automation tech to deliver new applications and enhanced experiences across the enterprise. This combination will deliver automated and intelligent conversational and collaboration resources that will ultimately drive better business outcomes. Voice and video AI with automation and machine learning will also find applications in the areas of customer care, sales, marketing, HR, among others.
Emotion Research Lab’s team, over the time, has developed several capabilities such as advanced facial emotion recognition and eye tracking technology to capture and analyse video interaction in real-time. It tracks parameters such as facial and eye movements, attention span, and demographics to ensure the parties involved are engaged, which in turn drives positive outcomes. Such capabilities that detect and act on visual and emotional indicators are quickly proving to be a strategic differentiator.
Welcoming Emotion Research Lab onboard, Uniphore co-founder Umesh Sachdev said, “Today we welcome the Emotion Research Lab family to Uniphore and celebrate the addition of not only cutting-edge technology to our portfolio, but a very talented team of professionals who will add high voltage charges to the Uniphore innovation engine. This current pandemic has reshaped traditional customer service and has universally increased the use of video across a range of applications.” With this deal, Uniphore has expanded its global footprint by adding European presence.
Echoing similar sentiments, Maria Pocovi, CEO and Co-Founder, Emotion Research Lab said that her team was looking forward to this opportunity to work together and scale the technology for customer service.
