The joint venture has been established to address the rapidly growing requirement for high-quality and reliable IT infrastructure. To facilitate this, both organisations are committed to investing significant capital over the next decade to build out India’s leading green data centre platform.
In addition to full-scale data centres, Adani-ConneX will also develop a portfolio of edge data centres strategically located throughout India to support the need for more proximate capacity. According to the official release, these edge sites are designed and planned to easily scale with demand and become full-scale data centre campuses.
Further, it has also been announced that this pan-Indian platform of hyper-scale and hyperlocal data centres will largely be powered by renewable energy.
EdgeConneX, being the trusted provider of data centre solutions, will bring extensive data centre expertise and industry-leading technology solutions to the joint venture.
When asked about the partnership, Randy Brouckman, the CEO of EdgeConneX, stated that Adani Enterprises is currently an ideal partner in India. A lot of this could be attributed to the necessary capabilities and unique expertise to build out critical digital infrastructure that can best support our customers across the entire country.
“We look forward to investing in the digital economy of India and meeting our customers’ needs throughout the region in collaboration with Adani,” said Brouckman.
The joint venture will leverage Adani’s expertise in full-stack energy management, renewable power and real estate development, access to undersea cable landing stations, and its experience in building and managing large infrastructure projects throughout India.
Expressing views, Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, appreciated PM’s Digital India vision and stated how it helped the entire Indian population come online and create exponential growth in data consumption.
She said, “India currently has one of world’s largest data subscriber population and to address the need for a reliable infrastructure to support cloud, content, network, IoT, 5G, AI and enterprise requirements, data centres are a fundamental infrastructure need.”
With EdgeConneX’s domain expertise and cutting-edge technology in the data centre business, Adani Enterprises created this joint venture — AdaniConneX JV — that will build a network of hyper-scale data centres in India, starting with Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Vizag and Hyderabad markets. Development and construction at these sites have already begun, stated the sources.
