Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Haiku Now Available on AWS Bedrock and Google’s Vertex AI

Initially available as a text only model via Anthropic’s API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, Claude 3.5 Haiku will soon support image inputs as well.
Anthropic Launches Claude 2.1, Surpasses GPT-4 Turbo in Context Length

Claude 3.5 Haiku API is now live on Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. Renowned for its speed and coding prowess, Haiku surpasses leading models like GPT-4o in the SWE-bench Verified tests, which evaluate how effectively models address real-world software challenges.

Claude 3.5 Haiku represents the latest advancement in speed, affordability, and capability, outperforming the previous generation’s largest model, Claude 3 Opus, in various intelligence benchmarks. It excels particularly in coding tasks, achieving a score of 40.6% on SWE-bench Verified, surpassing several leading models, including GPT-4o.

With reduced latency and enhanced instruction following, it is ideal for user-facing applications and data-driven personalized experiences.

Pricing is set at a higher rate compared to other models, starting at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, with potential savings of up to 90% for prompt caching and 50% with the Message Batches API.

While many users argue the cost is high, the company justified the cost efficiencies to make it accessible for a wide range of industries, including e-commerce, finance, and education, where Claude 3.5 Haiku’s speed and intelligence can transform operations.

“Our initial testing of Claude 3.5 Haiku has been very promising. We were particularly impressed by its performance in reasoning tasks, where it significantly exceeded our expectations. We’re excited about how this advancement could enhance our AI-assisted problem-solving capabilities and upcoming features,” said James Peterson, head of AI at Fathom Video.

Claude 3.5 Haiku is particularly adept at coding assistance, real time data extraction, content moderation, and powering responsive chatbots. Its robust capabilities make it a valuable tool for developers, customer service teams, and organizations managing vast amounts of unstructured data.

Haiku has potential beyond conventional uses. Notable applications include enhancing virtual assistants, enabling real time language translation, assisting in coding and debugging, improving customer service interactions, and generating content for marketing.
