"We, currently, have close to 9,000-10,000 engineers working at our three R&D centres. We are about to hire more than 1000+ engineers from top IITs and others. Of these 1000, 260 will be from IITs, and the rest will be from top engineering colleges, including BITS Pilani, NIITS, and IIITs, while 250 will be from pre-placement offers, the company said. This year, IIT Jodhpur and Goa will also be added to the list. This is part of our continued growth and expansion plans in India. For us, R&D has been on the front. We opened our first R&D centre in India in 1996 in Bengaluru and a factory in the same year. This shows our commitment to the Indian market and India-related products and talent. It helps us fuel the innovation from India for the domestic market as well as global territories," said Sameer Wadhawan, Head, Human Resources (HR), Samsung India.

Samsung plans to hire students from multiple streams, including computer science, electronics and communications, electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, instrumentation and information technology, to support its efforts to build innovative solutions for India-specific challenges.

The company's strong culture of patent filing has resulted in over 7,500 patents globally, with over 3,500 patent filings in India so far. Millennials are filing the most number of patents wherein 50 per cent of patent filers are first-time inventors, and 27 per cent of the inventors have less than five years of experience.

To give a growth platform to its employees, Samsung offers multiple upskilling programmes that include M Tech programmes with IIIT-B and BITS Pilani to learn and contribute towards newer trends using future technologies.

During the 2019 hiring season, the company hired 1,200 engineers and had honoured all job offers, allowing candidates to join later due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, with some joining in 2021.
