American investment services giant Vanguard inaugurated its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad on November 3, as per an official release. The facility is expected to become Vanguard’s largest technology hub by 2029, housing more than 2,300 professionals, with a near-term target of 300 employees by the end of 2025.

The Hyderabad centre will function as a global hub for engineering excellence, focusing on cloud modernisation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity. It will also feature collaborative innovation labs to accelerate advancements across Vanguard’s digital platforms and enterprise solutions.

Describing the new centre as a talent play rather than a cost play, Nitin Tandon, Vanguard’s global chief information officer, told Times of India, “We are tracking ahead of our plan. We are seeing great traction in the market and are very happy with the quality of candidates we are getting. Our plan was to get around 200 people by year-end, but we expect to end 2025 with around 300 employees here.”

Hyderabad has become a prominent destination for global financial institutions, with seven of the world’s top asset management firms, collectively managing over $30 trillion in assets, already operating from the city.

Telangana’s IT and industries minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, noted that the state aims to attract 120 new GCCs within the next year, creating 1.2 lakh new jobs. “Vanguard, one of the world's leading asset management companies, with $11.6 trillion in assets under management as of September 30, choosing Hyderabad for its global value centre reflects the city’s talent, stability, and global competitiveness," he reportedly said.

At the inauguration, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that Vanguard’s decision underscores Hyderabad’s growing stature as a global technology and innovation hub.

Vanguard had announced its GCC plans in March this year. Reflecting on the decision, Vanguard CEO Salim Ramji remarked, “Hyderabad has emerged as a hub of trust, integrity, and was a great obvious choice for us because of its diverse talent pool, quality of living, an ecosystem of tech expertise and innovation mindset, and the friendly policies of the Telangana state government.”
