Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently laid the foundation stones for two major electronics manufacturing projects worth ₹6,750 crore at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority in Jewar. This marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and reducing dependence on imports.
The projects, led by Amber Enterprises India and Ascent Circuits, are expected to accelerate domestic production of advanced Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), strengthen India’s electronics value chain, and further the Centre’s Make in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw said Jewar is emerging as one of India’s most important electronics manufacturing destinations.
“Jewar is poised to emerge as one of India’s leading hubs for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing in the coming years,” he said.
Explaining the significance of the projects, the minister noted that the new facilities will manufacture advanced multi-layer PCBs—critical components used in modern electronic devices.
“PCBs worth nearly ₹40,000 crore, which were earlier imported into the country, will now be manufactured domestically, with Jewar emerging as a major production centre,” Vaishnaw said.
He added that after establishing a semiconductor ecosystem, Uttar Pradesh is now well-positioned to become a major electronics manufacturing hub.
“Several new electronics manufacturing projects would be established in Uttar Pradesh, enabling the State to emerge as one of the country's leading electronics and semiconductor manufacturing hubs,” he said, adding that the investments would strengthen India’s technological self-reliance and expand domestic manufacturing across the electronics value chain.
Highlighting the role of infrastructure, Vaishnaw said the proposed Delhi–Lucknow–Varanasi–Patna–Siliguri Bullet Train corridor would significantly improve connectivity and industrial development.
“The proposed Delhi–Lucknow–Varanasi–Patna–Siliguri Bullet Train corridor will redefine connectivity across Uttar Pradesh and act as a catalyst for industrial and economic growth,” he said.
According to the minister, world-class transport infrastructure combined with a robust electronics manufacturing ecosystem will further enhance Uttar Pradesh’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
During the event, CM Adityanath also laid the foundation stone for the first industrial unit within the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) being developed in YEIDA’s Sector-10.
The cluster is being developed across 206 acres at an estimated investment of ₹417 crore, including ₹144 crore in central government assistance. The facility is expected to attract additional investments in high-value electronics manufacturing while strengthening Uttar Pradesh's position as one of India’s leading electronics production hubs.
The projects complement the Centre’s broader semiconductor strategy under the India Semiconductor Mission.
As of June, the government has approved 12 semiconductor manufacturing projects with a cumulative investment pipeline of approximately ₹1.64 lakh crore, including one semiconductor fabrication unit, two compound semiconductor fabrication units, and nine semiconductor packaging facilities.
The government is also expanding India’s chip design ecosystem through the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme. So far, 24 design projects are being supported, 105 companies have received access to advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, and 23 chip tape-outs have been completed across multiple technology nodes.
Announced in the Union Budget 2026–27, India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 aims to further strengthen the domestic ecosystem by promoting semiconductor equipment, materials, indigenous intellectual property, resilient supply chains, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, reinforcing India’s ambition to become a trusted global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing hub.
