Accenture and Workday have launched a joint forward deployed engineering (FDE) programme to help businesses deploy AI agents in human resources (HR) and finance.
The teams will work within clients’ existing processes, data, policies and controls to bring Workday’s agentic capabilities into production. The companies said the programme was intended to speed up implementation and help clients realise returns on their investments sooner.
The arrangement resembles HCLTech’s collaboration with Anthropic, which also uses FDEs to support enterprise AI deployments.
The focus on FDEs extends beyond individual partnerships. TCS has targeted 1% to 1.5% of its workforce, or up to 8,900 employees, for these roles, while Infosys is targeting about 6,000 FDEs. Accenture has also been recruiting for the roles.
The programme will draw on Accenture’s work deploying and extending Workday’s agentic capabilities at enterprise scale. The announcement did not disclose financial terms, name participating customers or specify when the first deployments would begin.
Accenture engineers will also work with Workday’s product and technology teams to develop new agentic capabilities, drawing on experience from client deployments.
“When AI is helping run payroll and close the books, almost right isn't good enough,” Workday Co-Founder, CEO and Chair Aneel Bhusri said.
